This site and the emails that come from it are run by Jordan Ryan Nickel. This page explains what I collect, why, and what you can ask me to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who I am

Jordan Ryan Nickel
2108 N St #7402

You can reach me by replying to any email I send you, or through the contact page on this site.

"The Ritual Project" and "Evergreen Ritual" are names for projects I run. When you see those names, the person handling your information is still me, at the address above.

What I collect

Your email address, if you give it to me. That happens when you join the email list or sign up for a free challenge. I use it to send you what you signed up for.

What you write in a reflective prompt, if you fill one in when signing up for a challenge. This is for you, to help you name your own starting point. I can see it. I do not use it to tailor what the automated emails send you, because those emails are a fixed sequence that goes to everyone in the same order.

What you send me in a reply. If you reply to one of my emails, a person reads it. That is the point of it. I do not move private replies into marketing use. If I ever wanted to quote something you sent me privately, I would ask you first, separately.

What you submit to a share form, if you choose to. This is separate from replying, and it is always optional. It collects the words you enter, whether you want to be credited by first name or stay anonymous, and a confirmation that you are 18 or older. The form associates your submission to your subscription so that if you later ask me to remove it, I can find it. Your email address is never published.

Basic analytics about visits to this site, such as which pages get looked at and roughly where in the world visitors are. This is aggregate traffic information, not a profile of you by name.

What I do with it

Send you the emails you signed up for.

Read and personally reply to messages you send me.

With your explicit permission, and only from the share form, feature words you chose to share.

Understand in general terms which writing people find useful.

What I do not do

I do not sell your information. I have not, and this policy would have to change before I could.

I do not publish your email address or contact details. Not in materials, not in examples, not anywhere.

I do not use your private replies as marketing.

I do not send you the sequence based on what you wrote. The challenge emails are a fixed sequence.

If you consent to share something

The share form is the only place where something you write may end up in public. It is opt-in, the boxes are unchecked until you check them, and nothing is featured without them.

When you consent there, you are permitting the words you entered to appear, in whole or in part, in Ritual Project and Evergreen Ritual materials, including this website, social media, emails, printed materials, and paid advertising. If you choose first-name attribution, your first name may be shown alongside them. If you choose anonymous, it will not be. Entries may be lightly edited or excerpted for length.

To remove something you shared, reply to any email from me and say so. I will take it out of materials going forward. I cannot recall anything already printed or already distributed, and I would rather say that plainly than imply a power I do not have.

Who else touches your information

I use a small number of outside services to run this. They process information on my behalf, under their own terms:

GoHighLevel, for the email list and the customer records behind it.

Webflow, which hosts this site, and its built-in analytics.

If that list changes materially, this page changes with it.

How long I keep it

Your email address stays until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Consented share submissions stay while they are in use in materials, and I keep a record of the consent itself for as long as I rely on it. Private replies are correspondence and I keep them the way a person keeps email.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from any email using the link in the footer. Every email has one.

Ask me what I hold about you, and I will tell you.

Ask me to delete it, and I will, except where I need to keep a record that you consented to something already published.

Ask me to correct it if it is wrong.

Withdraw consent for a shared submission at any time, as described above.

To do any of these, reply to any email from me or use the contact page. I will not make you use a special form or charge you for it.

Depending on where you live, some of these may be rights you hold by law, including under California law or, if you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, under data protection law there. I offer them to everyone who asks, regardless of where you live, because sorting people by jurisdiction before treating them decently seems like the wrong instinct.

Children

This is not written for children. The share form requires you to confirm you are 18 or older, because submissions there may be used in marketing. If you believe a child has given me information, tell me and I will delete it.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses what it needs to work and to count visits. It does not run third-party advertising trackers.

Changes to this policy

If I change how any of this works, I will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, I will say so in an email rather than quietly editing the page.
